This cameo brooch is exquisite it truly is an older version than what we see today. The carving is amazing and the Shell is really thin you can see the carvings on the reverse side. The shell is curved as all good and older cameos are and the scene is absolutely lovely. This cameo depicts Venus and Cupid, look to the sides and you will see additional cherubs a beautiful tree and what appears to be Iris's. This cameo is done with a 14K gold surround and measures 5.7 x 4 x 5 cm and weighs 22.1 gram. This cameo comes out of Italy from an Italian auction house and it is in excellent condition.
